M. Chapoutier Croix de Bois from the Chapoutier Michel winery is a wine considered one of the symbols of the Rhône Valley. With ancient origins, the Croix de Bois is also known as Vin de Papes, in homage to the village of the popes of Chateauneuf where the main production area is located, or also known as the "wine with 14 grape varieties" area. In his nonconformist and creative spirit, Michel Chapoutier instead decides to produce it by relying on a single, precious grape variety: Grenache. The result of this courageous choice is a grandiose red wine, with a full and powerful structure, capable of giving the most intense emotions after many years of ageing. Coming to life from a land where quartzite pebbles and red clay predominate, the Grenache vines lovingly cultivated by Chapoutier's great experience, mature in wooden barrels for over a year, immersed in a temperate climate and in compliance with the biodynamic philosophy, basis of all the activities of the cellar. To further sublimate this M. Chapoutier Croix de Bois, the refinement conducted inside a suggestive natural cave. In the glass, the color is garnet red, the nose is fruity and elegant, with notes of red fruits, strawberry jam, floral accents and a touch of spice. On the palate, it is creamy and full, with racy tannins of rare finesse, the length or persistence is truly remarkable.
