'450' Red of Valtellina DOC Balgera 2017

450 Rosso di Valtellina DOC is a full-bodied and elegant wine produced by the appreciated Balgera winery. It is obtained from the exclusive vinification of Nebbiolo grapes, known locally with the term Chiavennasca. The vineyards are located 450 meters above sea level, on soils whose mineral composition gives a particular finesse to the grapes. When the bunches have reached maturity they are selected by hand and collected in small baskets which protect the quality of the grapes. In the cellar, the vinification begins with spontaneous fermentation on indigenous yeasts. This phase includes maceration on the skins and takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The refinement involves three steps: the first involves a two-year rest in large oak barrels, while the second lasts a year and takes place in steel. After bottling, the wine remains in glass for a year before being put on the market. 450 Rosso di Valtellina DOC has enormous potential to support long evolutions of over ten years.
