In the hilly areas of ancient vocation, north-east of Verona, Amarone della Valpolicella Valpantena is born. Red with DOCG denomination, it is mainly produced from Corvina Veronese and Rondinella grapes, native vines of Valpantena, the only recognized cru of Valpolicella. The vines grow espaliered using the Guyot method, in this pre-Alpine valley of highly mineral marl and limestone, characterized by well-defined seasonal and diurnal temperature ranges. The selection of the best hand-picked bunches is left to dry naturally in the Grezzana fruit cellars, in the heart of the Bertani cellars, a historic winery. The slow fermentation of this wine, symbol of its territory, begins with a low temperature maceration, which extracts the maximum of aromas and color. Amarone della Valpantena ages in Slavonian oak barrels and, to a small extent, in barriques, for about 30 months, and then continues the refinement in the bottle.
