The Monica di Sardegna DOC Antigua wine from the famous Santadi cooperative winery from Sulcitana is a terroir red that well represents an ancient Sardinian vine, the Monica, also known beyond the borders of the island. This interesting label, awarded 5 bunches by the Bibenda Guide, is the result of an all-Sardinian blend of Monica (85%) and Carignano (15%). Both of these vines are in fact grown in the lower Sulcis. The result is a quality wine, which perfectly represents the ancient winemaking tradition of Sardinia. This wine, a strong expression of the territory, belongs to the I Classici line and takes shape from grapes harvested by hand between the second half of September and the second ten days of October. The harvest is followed by pressing, after which the must is fermented with the skins in cement tanks, then the Monica di Sardegna DOC Antigua, before being bottled, ages in the same containers. The final product is a complex, soft and aromatic red, a structured wine with a very pleasant sip. A real surprise!
