Vinopuro's advices
Recommended glass

Glass
It is the perfect glass for structured, intense, aged red wines or potentially suitable for refinement; this type of wine certainly needs to "open" (that means to better develop its aromatic, intense and complex profile) and this is possible by the prolonged contact with oxygen (oxygenation) which, in fact, is facilitated by the generous cup size.

Longevity
This wine is ready to be tasted now, with great satisfaction; however, it has qualities that allow it to evolve and refine over time, if properly stored, for at least another 7-8 years.

Description

The Castello di Romitorio Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG represents the flagship wine of the Castello di Romitorio estate, a binding company born in the mid-1980s, in a completely wild area of Montalcino, completely different from other areas of the territory. In fact, compared to those on other slopes, the Romitorio vineyards, located to the north-east, are less exposed to the sun and are subjected to lower temperatures. The soil is characterized by clay, galestro and alberese among which it is not uncommon to find fossil remains of shells testifying to the coastal origin of the area. Yet, precisely such a harsh and not very generous environment gives life to grapes with a strong character, whose wines are characterized by fruity and perfumed notes, moderate alcohol content and a truly particular and unique saline note. The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG Castello di Romitorio is born, as per the disciplinary, from 100% Sangiovese Grosso grapes, matures for 36 months in oak barrels and is then aged in the cellars for another 24 months. A truly long and precious time that allows the wine, initially rough and tannic, to refine, smooth, soften and evolve over time, reaching extraordinary levels of complexity and elegance. Each rare vintage produced maintains a surprising consistency with the previous one. It is a strong and muscular wine. The warmth of the alcohol contrasts the decisive acidity, the decisive tannins are kept attentive and present. With aging, the more savory and earthy notes increase. This work of the highest quality is rewarded, with each rare release of this wine, by scores always above 90 points, by the most prestigious international magazines (Wine Spectator, Vinous, etc) and by the most representative wine critics of reference, including Robert Parker and James Suckling. Awesome!
