Among the most representative labels of the Giovanni Cherchi winery is the Cagnulari Isola dei Nuraghi IGT Giovanni Maria Cherchi, a wine particularly representative of the land in which it is produced, the north of Sardinia. In fact, it is the fruit of an ancient black grape variety typical of Usini, in the province of Sassari, the Cagnulari, whose origin would date back to the Spanish domination. In the 19th century, before phylloxera devastated all European vineyards, the wine made in these lands was exported to France to be blended with the weaker ones. It is therefore a vine with a long tradition, strongly linked to the culture of the place and Giovanni Cherchi had the merit of bringing it back to its former glory after a long period of abandonment. Cagnulari Isola dei Nuraghi IGT Giovanni Maria Cherchi is a still red wine, with fruity notes of small red fruits, undergrowth and spices blend and enhance the balanced and persistent taste. On the palate it is dry and pleasantly sapid, it has a warm and lively structure, in which delicate acidity and soft tannins are perceived. Good persistence on the palate, with a fresh and clean finish. Wine with good aging capacity.
