'Calcaire' Riesling Roche Zind Humbrecht 2020

Zind Humbrecht 's Calcaire Riesling Roche is an elegant, savory and mineral white, elements that rightfully place it among the most representative expressions of Alsace. The vine used is 100% Renano Riesling: the grapes are grown in seven different vineyards, with vines that are on average forty years old, grown on predominantly marnic-calcareous soils. As the name suggests, limestone plays a fundamental role in giving varietal nuances to these grapes, which are harvested with the utmost care to preserve these qualities. The vinification begins with a slow natural fermentation, without the use of additional yeasts, inside large oak barrels. This phase can last about a year, as can the refinement, which takes place in the same barrels. Calcaire Riesling Roche is an extraordinary wine to be enjoyed as soon as it is bottled, but it also gives excellent surprises after a few years of rest.
