Capo di Stato Loredan Gasparini produced by the Venegazzù company is an important and robust red wine, which is obtained from a blend of international vines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec. The production that would later give birth to this extraordinary red was started by Count Pietro Loredan, called the Red Count by virtue of his past partisans. In the 1950s he identified a particularly popular cru within a vineyard planted a few years earlier and known today as 'The 100 plants'. The Head of State Loredan Gasparini was officially born in 1967 when De Gaulle and his wife, visiting Venice, tasted a bottle of red Venegazzù and were enthusiastic about it. This is how the story of this wine began, still made today from an ancient vineyard planted in 1946 on the Montello hill, in the Treviso area. However, it is the production process that keeps up with the times, while respecting tradition, which rightfully brings this wine into the Olympus of great structured reds, thanks to the 18-month aging in wooden barrels. Sumptuous.
