The Chardonnay from the historic Di Lenardo winery is an excellent Friulian white wine that stands out for its freshness and drinkability. A Venezia Giulia IGT produced from the processing of 100% Chardonnay grapes. Commonly considered a Burgundy vine, Chardonnay has uncertain origins, according to some historians the vine comes from the hills of Jerusalem, while according to others it is the fruit of a completely spontaneous cross between a vine from Illyria and a pre-domesticated one. However, it is true that Chardonnay is a very common vine in Burgundy, where it was originally planted and cultivated by the Cistercian monks of Pontigny. This Friulian Chardonnay, which has brought home several awards, including the two Gambero Rosso glasses, is the result of a soft pressing and fermentation in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine follows a period of maturation in steel on its lees . The result is a medium-bodied white for a surprising wine that is worth trying. Its secret is contained in the very aromatic clone of Chardonnay musqué, present only in Di Leonardo's vineyards.
