The Clos Windsbuhl Riesling wine is produced in Alsace, in the Zind Humbrecht cellar; the company has over 40 hectares of vines all owned that grow in 5 different locations, Hunawihr, Thann, Wintzenheim, Gueberschwihr, Niedermorschwihr and Turckheim, which is also the main and largest location with its 18 hectares. This great subdivision in the cultivation of the vines involves the growth of the plants on a different composition of the soils and this is also reflected in the development and in the characteristics of the bunches. The Riesling vine that is used alone for the Clos Windsbuhl Riesling is found in the upper area of Turkeim and grows on an ancient layer formed by sedimentary limestone; this terroir is very rich in magnesium and manages to convey to the wine that typical volume that characterizes its structure. The bottle of this noble cru from Domaine Zind-Humbrecht can be opened for a formal dinner half an hour before use; that particular elegance that distinguishes it can certainly be enhanced if left to rest in its cellar and enjoyed at least 4 years after its bottling.
