Recommended glass
Glass
Ballon flute
Glass
It is the perfect goblet for classic method sparkling wines (or champenoise) and champagne: being narrow, with a pointed bottom, it favors the development of bubbles (perlage), avoiding their dispersion; the body of this glass is a little wider than a classic flute and favors the perception of more intense and complex aromas.

Description

How was Crystal born? From a personal request, in 1876, from Tsar Alexander II directly to Louis Roederer: he wished to have a cuvée for his exclusive and personal use. Louis then proposed a transparent crystal bottle in which to elaborate the best selection of the 7 crus of his estate. Thus was born the Cristal, which took its name from the flat-bottomed transparent bottle, at the time made of crystal, used by Roederer to bottle this magnificent sparkling wine.

The Rosé version is undoubtedly the most valuable: created for the first time in 1974 by selecting old Pinot Noir vines located on the best territories of the Grand Cru d'Aÿ, today the vineyards are cultivated in biodynamics. Drawing an exquisite minerality from the unique calcareous soil of this area, these grapes have the particularity of reaching, in great vintages, an extraordinary maturity combined with crystalline acidity.

Made with approximately 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay, of which 20% are wines vinified in oak barrels, Cristal Rosé is made using the bleeding method after cold maceration. It is aged on average for 6 years in the cellar.

The aromatic intensity is felt right from the attack in the mouth, with an established roundness and soft and sweet flavors of white flowers, red fruits, caramel and Tatin cake. The round, ample and refined texture of the first palate, typical of the Maison Louis Roederer, is underlined by a vinous structure, without being excessive, and by a beautiful freshness which gives an impression of great finesse and reinforces the precision of this wine. Extraordinary.
