Among the most famous wines of the Francis Ford Coppola Winery's Director's Cut collection is this important red wine, the Director's Cut Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, made with three different grape varieties: 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Malbec %. For Francis Ford Coppola, making a good wine is a bit like directing a film and the wines in his Director's Cut line express the "director's touch". The Director's Cut Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Sonoma County, California. A hilly area with a dry and warm climate, mitigated by the ocean breeze and the proximity of the mountains. It is precisely this particular microclimate that slows down the ripening of the grapes, preserving their acidity and flavour. Structured and complex, the Director's Cut Cabernet is fragrant with exotic notes of cloves and toasted wood. Aged mainly in French oak barrels for around 15 months, this wine will develop further for several years if left to rest in the cellar. This vintage's Cabernet Sauvignon is quite opulent with dark and deep fruit aromas, framed by firm tannins and rich character. Full-bodied and well structured, the complexity of the taste of this wine is accentuated by the addition of Malbec and Cabernet Franc.
