Fumin Valle D'Aosta DOP Les Cretes 2020

Les Cretes Fumin Les Cretes 2016 is the Aosta Valley red you would not expect. Initially elegant and velvety, however the purplish hue of the intense ruby and the gritty taste note reveal a wild and carnal inclination which, in the end, does not betray the strong link with the terroir. The merit of the international success of this 100% Fumin goes to the dark and aromatic berries of the ancient autochthonous vine and to the rounded tannins, suitably rounded off and aged in barrique. A challenge, won by Costantino Charrere who sensed the solo potential of what before him was traditionally a blending grape and whose cultivation was gradually abandoned in the 1980s. The low rows of Fumin grow in the heart of the Alps, in Valle d'Aosta, between the steep ridges that descend towards the Dora Baltea in one of the most beautiful mountain scenery in Europe. With an ideal exposure, the vineyards of La Tour and Les Cretes d'Aymavilles benefit from a marked temperature range, which together with a morainic soil and a marked altitude, combine to give Les Cretes Fumin a rarity of aromas, freshness and persistence Cretes 2016.
