The Gattinara DOCG of the Cantina Sociale Gattinara was born in the vineyards located in the north-west area of Gattinara, in the province of Vercelli, located at an altitude of 300/500 meters above sea level. For the blend Nebbiolo is used in purity, a black grape variety, native to Piedmont and in particular to the Langhe area. Characterized by a late maturation which in some cases lasts until the first days of November, it is trained according to the Guyot system on a predominantly rocky and calcareous soil. The climate is mild and the vineyards are protected to the north by the Alpine chain while to the south they are open to the hot-humid influences from the Ligurian Sea. The harvest takes place in the month of October. In the cellar, the must, after an initial soft pressing, matures and ages for a few months in wooden barrels. The Gattinara DOCG Cantina Sociale Gattinara , with a large structure, is ideal to drink young, but lends itself well to aging for 3 or 4 years.
