The Michel Chapoutier maison is known throughout the world for its wines from the Ermitage line. The Ermitage Rouge Le Meal red wine comes from these lands in the Rhône valley in France. We even find Alexandre Dumas and Tsar Nicolas II among the countless admirers of the wines produced from this special Cru. Today the Ermitage Rouge Le Meal is considered one of the greatest wines of France and therefore its reputation is international. With its 34 hectares of land, Michel Chapoutier is the cellar with the most important wine production in the Hermitage area. This intense and structured red is made with 100% Syrah grapes from ancient vineyards planted 50 years ago. Here the land is worked in terraces and is rich in gravel and clay. Michel Chapoutier harvests rigorously by hand, the bunches are then transferred to concrete tanks for vinification. Maceration takes place at high temperatures, which allows the excellent quality of the grapes to be preserved. It is subsequently aged in wooden barrels for about 1 year and a half. In the glass the color is intense garnet red with violet reflections. Nose: ripe fruit, smoky notes. On the palate we find powerful, velvety tannins with marmalade notes. Its longevity is impressive, it is estimated to be even 40/50 years. The added value of this important winery is the absolute respect for nature: for this reason, the company produces its wines following the principles of agriculture and biodynamic production.
