When a robin landed on an old barrel, as if to signal something, the owners of the Ar.Pe.Pe winery realized that the barrel was damaged and from that episode the Il Pettirosso Valtellina Superiore DOCG Ar.Pe.Pe wine was born , red wine from Valtellina made from Nebbiolo grapes. The Pellizzatti Perego family, owner of the Ar.Pe.Pe winery cultivates the Nebbiolo grapes, locally called Chiavennasca, in an estate that extends for 13 hectares along the mountain slopes in the areas of Sassella, Grumello and Inferno in Valtellina. Over time the owners have been able to innovate in the name of tradition and great respect for the territory and still today the harvest is carried out entirely by hand, then the grapes ferment in 50 hectoliter wooden vats with maceration on the skins of about 3 months, finally the grapes ripen for another 12 months in wooden barrels. The product obtained can be consumed immediately or left to rest for several years in the cellar. Pettirosso Valtellina Superiore DOCG is a structured, harmonious and elegant wine that embodies all the essence of Valtellina.
