The name of this wine is inspired by history and, in particular, as underlined by the Statutes of Grosotto of 1544, where the best vineyards were "tense", that is "protected", by the guardians of the vines, the "arbostrari". Hence the name "Le Tense", representative of the most suitable vineyards in the Sassella sub-area, known for being able to generate wines of particular elegance and finesse. The Valtellina Superiore "Le Tense" is obtained from the best bunches of Nebbiolo, harvested by hand along the steep vineyards of the valley. The must ferments in steel tanks, then a part of the wine will age in large French oak barrels for 20 months, while the rest will mature in French and American oak barriques for 16 months. Another 4 months of rest in the bottle complete the refinement process, allowing this red to reach its perfect gustatory balance, ready to be drunk. The taste is full and round, perfectly balanced by a dry and fine tannin. The long persistence is evident, as is its aging capacity. Excellent!
