The history of this company dates back to the eighteenth century, to the time when the Groults settled on a farm located on the hilly area of Pays d'Auge. The land, known as Clos de la Huvanière, was perfect for growing apples. Here Pierre Groult then decided to start distilling cider. To give a special touch to the liqueur thus obtained, Pierre decided to let it age in oak barrels, thus giving rise to Calvados Groult, as we know it today. Already from the first decades of activity, the liqueur proved capable of expressing itself at high levels, by virtue of the territorial conditions and the family's ambition. The fate of the company was changed by his nephew, Roger, who would end up giving his name to the company. He expanded the production capacity, while maintaining the high quality standards imposed by his grandfather. Therefore, thanks to his work, Groult's production achieved fame throughout France and beyond, winning a gold medal in a prestigious competition in 1893. To date, the history of this important company is enriched by new chapters thanks to the guidance of Jean-Pierre. He strongly believes in the potential of a liqueur that proves capable of resisting the variable trend of fashions. Calvados, in fact, is a spirit truly endowed with a timeless charm and is particularly appreciated by lovers of gourmet cuisine. It finds a place in the kitchens of the best restaurants and as such it is a product that the Roger Groult company aims to maintain at the highest quality levels.
