Chapoutier Michel

The Chapoutier Winery, also called Maison M. Chapoutier, is located in Tain-l'Hermitage, in the Rhône region, France. The adventure of this label was born from a young self-taught man, Michel Chapoutier, who at the age of 26, in 1990, headed the company. But it must be said that the Chapoutier family and the Rhone territory have been linked for much longer, in fact the first document which testifies to the purchase of land in the Rhone Valley by the Chapoutier family dates back to 1808. Under the guidance of Michel Chapoutier, the winery's wines began to receive considerable international attention due to their increasing quality, in particular the Hermitage wines, both red and white, which have become legendary among sommeliers and enthusiasts. Furthermore, in 1996, Chapoutier wine labels were the first in the world to include Braille writing on all its labels, reporting all the necessary information even for the blind (producer name, vintage, type of vineyard and color some wine). Michel Chapoutier's production philosophy is based on profound respect and exaltation of his land; the vineyards are all cultivated biodynamically . And not just in France: Chapoutier is in fact producing wines in many countries around the world, namely in Australia, the United States, Portugal and Spain. Another important characteristic of Chapoutier's wines, and another important part of Michel's philosophy, is a clear preference for mono-varietal wines, that is, using only one type of grape. Over the years, Michel Chapoutier has brought the company to the podium of the best winemakers in the Rhône Valley, winning awards several times and obtaining international recognition, such as its election as the most admired French brand in the world by Drinks International.
