The winemaking activity of the prestigious Quintarelli winery was born at the beginning of the century with Silvio Quintarelli, who, together with his brothers, produced a wine that was already exported to the United States in large wooden barrels at the time. After the First World War, in 1924, the winery moved to the Negrar valley, in the Cerè area (still the current operational headquarters). In the 1950s, Giuseppe, the youngest of the children, took over the management of the company to continue the family tradition. By his explicit will and production philosophy, the vineyards are renewed and rigorous criteria are applied to produce quality wines. In this period, Recioto is by far the most important wine of Valpolicella and Amarone does not yet exist, but precisely from the need to manage the limited stocks of Recioto in poor years, a "method" was born which leads to a wine, Amarone in fact, of very high quality and which is therefore subsequently discovered and appreciated by national and international critics. In the Negrar valley, the Quintarelli winery has a total of 12 hectares of vineyards, where the most important native varieties of the area are found, such as corvina , corvinone , rondinella and molinara , which each season produce an average of around 50,000 bottles per year. The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is clearly the diamond of the family production, often unobtainable by enthusiasts, but it is accompanied by a very high level production also with other wines such as the historic Recioto della Valpolicella, the Veneto IGT " Rosso del Bepi ", without forget the Valpolicella Classico Superiore , the White “Primofiore” and the Red “Ca' del Merlo” : labels of the highest quality, made of history, traditions,
and wonderful territories. Wines that have no equal and that we can summarize with two characteristics: a natural predisposition for very long refinement, which leads to improving the product even beyond twenty years, and a surprising liveliness, which is expressed for a long time after opening the bottle . The name of Giuseppe Quintarelli has for years been the undisputed protagonist, not only of the production of Valpolicella, but of Italian viticulture in the world, capable of producing simply extraordinary wines, award-winning in the most prestigious international contexts.
