Founded in 1995, Tenuta di Collosorbo derives from the hereditary division of Tenuta di Sesta, a historic reality in Montalcino. The Ciacci family has owned it since 1850, and since then has dedicated itself to the cultivation of cereals, olive groves and vineyards. The first commercialized wine production dates back to 1966 by Giuseppe Ciacci and also corresponds to the year in which the Protection Consortium was established and the Controlled Designation of Origin was granted to Brunello di Montalcino. Currently the company maintains the original coat of arms and is led by Giovanna Ciacci and her daughters, who watch over the family tradition to allow a still strong link between past and future. On the other hand, the wines are born from the roots and preserve the history of a family of winemakers, but they launch towards the future, thanks to continuous studies and the search for winemakers always ready to enhance them and the territory that surrounds them. The winery's lands extend in the southern area of Montalcino, on the warmer side towards Monte Amiata; the soil of this area is calcareous-clayey, with iron and pebbles, influenced by the sea, well ventilated and surrounded by dense woods. Precisely these typical characteristics allow Sangiovese to give birth to particularly full and generous wines, rich in structure, but also extremely elegant and mineral. The winery of the estate also exploits the territory, located as it is in various caves dug into the tuff of Etruscan origin; it is there that all the production steps take place, from soft pressing to fermentation in steel tanks, up to aging in Slavonian oak barrels; all procedures studied down to the smallest detail to best enhance the products of the earth and ensure that they reflect their nature, the territory and its values. This is how elegant and complex wines are born with notable longevity, but also characterized by a generous character, typical of this micro-terroir, which has made them loved from the first sip for so long.
