Pio Cesare

The Pio Cesare winery was founded way back in 1881, when the eponymous entrepreneur Cesare Pio decided to produce for himself, his family and his customers a small and refined quantity of bottles of Langhe wines, in particular Barolo and Barbaresco. In a short time, the dream becomes reality and grows to become a real productive winery, capable of establishing itself in the panorama of Piedmontese wines first, in Italy and then in the world. The secret of this success is linked to the fact that, after almost 130 years of activity, the most classic interpretation of Barolo is still followed and heart and soul are still committed to the creation of wines that enhance and exalt the native territory. Since Barolo is an extremely complex area from a territorial and geological point of view, Pio Cesare works the Nebbiolo grapes (the most prestigious) from different vineyards separately in order to enhance every facet and every peculiar characteristic. Respecting tradition, however, for the Pio Cesare family does not mean repeating a formula unchanged over the centuries, but preserving its own style, adapting its viticultural and oenological choices to the present. Furthermore, over the years, particular projects have also been developed, from the point of view of the labels: from one of these the Barolo Ornato was born, that is, a particular interpretation of a unique vineyard, an entire hill that manages to contain within itself all the different terroirs of Barolo and produces a fruitier and softer wine, unique in its kind. Consistency with a traditional style, impressive qualitative continuity and great attention in the vineyard and cellar characterize all the production of the historic Pio Cesare winery. These wines are an example of quality and prestige that still sets the tone today, throughout the Langhe, representing history and tradition, but also the future and success of the territory, in Italy and in the world.
