Ronco Severo

The history of Ronco Severo began a long time ago, precisely in the immediate post-war period, when Stefano's grandfather and uncles purchased the first land in the Prepotto area; we are in the area called COF, an acronym for Colli Orientali del Friuli, one of the areas most suited to viticulture in the entire Friuli Venezia Giulia . A family of peasant origins, dedicated to agriculture and livestock breeding and which quickly moved towards the cultivation of vines. The old and precious vineyards are thus recovered and the old country house is renovated which thus becomes the nerve center of all the cellar's activities . In the case of Ronco Severo we are talking about vineyards located at an average altitude of 150 m. above sea level. on soils characterized by the presence of Ponca, the typical local marl. Among the cultivated varieties we find the most widespread in the area such as Friulano, Chardonnay, Picolit, Merlot, Pinot Grigio and Schioppettino. And then comes Stefano's time , who first gains great experience in wine, including in the commercial field and then, in search of new stimuli, turns his life around by taking over the management of the family winery. The ideas are very clear from the beginning: Stefano wants to obtain maximum naturalness from his wines, through meticulous and respectful work in the vineyard, followed by equally careful and environmentally friendly work in the cellar. Organic certification is a natural consequence of this approach to viticulture and life. Stefano's philosophy concerns everything the territory can give and therefore it is the winemaker's task to enhance and develop: only in this way can great results be achieved. Production is truly minimal, just under 30,000 bottles per year, with a few labels on which all attention is focused. The wines of Ronco Severo are real, territorial and, for this reason, exciting.
