The history of wine production by the Pierpaolo Pecorari winery is centuries long; it began, at least three centuries ago as for many other Friulian peasant communities, with the cultivation of vines for simple family consumption, perhaps on the edges of the fields cultivated with seeds. This practice then transformed into real work around the second half of the nineteenth century and during the twentieth century. In particular, it was during the 70s that it was decided to orient production towards quality, starting from the care and modernization and revitalization of the cultivation of some vineyards already present in the Pecorari family's lands, today among the most representative companies of the winemaking tradition of the Friuli Venezia Giulia. Today's 30 hectares of vineyards are located between Lucinico, Cormons and Gradisca d'Isonzo, a flat area in the province of Gorizia, in the DOC area of Isonzo del Friuli, near the river of the same name, characterized by dry soil and good conditions climatic. Being a very dry soil, the roots must go deep to find the nourishment and minerals they need; this gives fragrance and complexity to the grapes and allows the production of intense but elegant wines, with longevity and ideal balance.
