Giovanni Maria Cherchi is a winery that comes to life in the Sardinian territory, specifically in Usini. The winemaking reality is nourished by the more than ten-year passion of the Cherchi family. The winery was founded, in fact, in 1970 at the behest of Giovanni Cherchi; known as Billia, he began cultivating the two hectares of land he inherited with the aim of making wines that could convey the authenticity of Sardinia. The secret and success of the winery are, in fact, based on the reason that pushed Giovanni into this undertaking, namely the passion for the territory and the desire to make it known throughout the world. The care and attention for every single moment of the production process constitutes a winning card as it makes the Cherchis the custodians of a viticultural, cultural and human heritage of great importance. The cellar manages to combine tradition and innovation while respecting a set of values that imbue the work that starts from the land up to the bottle. One of the distinctive signs of the winery is having rediscovered an ancient native vine, namely Cagnulari. The wines bearing the Giovanni Maria Cherchi label are wines of excellence and represent pearls in the Sardinian wine scene. Awarded and recipients of numerous recognitions, they are frank, sincere, authentic and transparent wines. Quality lies in the production process in which one of the musts is the precise attention to safeguarding and preserving the flavors and characteristics of the territory from which they come. In fact, in the glass it is possible to taste all the peculiarities of the Usini land. The wines signed by the Cherchi family are divided into different lines. The Classics line, where the Cannonau di Sardegna Doc is found, is the spokesperson for the philosophy and essence of the company; the Billia line represents, however, a line in which tradition is revisited in a fresh, dynamic and young key. The cellar also offers the Gli speciali line with wines ideal for celebrating and embellishing important and special moments, and the Le Grappe line composed of pomace distillates, excellent for moments of meditation.
