Landrat & Guyollot

The vineyards of the Landrat & Guyollot company are located in Pouilly, on the right side of the Loire, where hills, river and gentle valleys blend to create a beautiful landscape and an ideal environment for the cultivation of excellent vines. The history of these places begins far away; in fact, the Paulus Farm already stood there in Roman times. It was in the Middle Ages, however, with the Benedictine congregations and with the works for the navigability of the Loire, that the Pouilly vineyards were known and appreciated as far away as Paris with the Pouilly-sur-Loire and Pouilly Fumè wines coming from the Chasselas and Sauvignon Blanc vines . It is in this enchanting setting that the Landrat & Guyollot estate is located, which for ten generations has been committed to producing typical wines of the Loire Valley, the quality of which is now appreciated throughout the world. Thanks to a particular terroir which combines a soil where marl, clay and limestone prevail, a microclimate influenced by the presence of the river and the configuration of the territory, with its rolling hills and wide valleys. Pouilly Fumè represents the excellence of the territory, which has always been produced in this valley where marine sediments from the Jurassic era manage to give the grapes a truly unique flavour. The Landrat & Guyollot company has taken up this tradition with the production of two cuveès: "Gemme Océane" and "Gemme de Feu" both AOC Pouilly Fumè. The first is produced purely from Sauvignon Blanc grown on marly soils (white earth) rich in limestone and fossil shells. The second is produced with grapes coming from the Saint-Andelain vines where the soil is mainly composed of quartz crystals and fossils and it is not uncommon to also find flint, which inspired the name of this wine. Truly exceptional wines.
