Langlois Chateau

Langlois Chateau
Information
Region: Loire Valley (France)
Address: 3 Rue Léopold Palustre, 49400 Saumur, France

Langlois Château was founded by Edouard Langlois, born way back in 1873 in the Saumur region, in the Loire Valley, an area with an ancient wine vocation and very famous for the production of white wines. A few years after founding the company together with his wife, in 1912, the First World War broke out and Edouard was one of the numerous victims: he died in 1915, leaving the fate of the Langlois Château winery to his very young widow, Jeanne Château. With the help of family members, in particular that of the son-in-law and son, the winery continues and increases its activity. At the beginning of the seventies, the famous Maison Bollinger, producer of Champagne, was struck by the potential of these territories and these vineyards and purchased the majority of the Langlois Château, bringing all its experience. It must be said that Langlois-Chateau was one of the first wineries to be certified Terra Vitis, or Sustainable Viticulture. Furthermore, Langlois Château bottles have been exported to Africa, Asia, Australia, America and, of course, Europe for more than a decade. The successful wines are above all the whites, such as the Pouilly Fumé made from 100% Sauvignon grapes, but also the sparkling wine, the Crémant de Loire Blanc de Blancs L'Extra par Langlois, composed of 60% Chenin and 40% Chardonnay grapes: really interesting !
