Tenuta di Salviano

Around Lake Corbara, about ten kilometers east of Orvieto, there is the Tenuta Salviano which belongs to the Incisa-Corsini family; it extends for approximately 70 hectares of vineyards that cover the hills surrounding the lake and owes its name to the Salviano Castle, built on the southern shore, and within which, dug into the tuff, the winemaking cellar is located. The vineyards within the estate grow on soil of tufaceous origin, rich in skeleton, and are cultivated in a sustainable manner with an almost zero contribution of synthetic chemicals; in the northern area of the lake red grape vines such as Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir are cultivated, while in the southern area there are both international vineyards such as Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, and native ones such as Trebbiano Toscano and Grechetto. The white grape products of Tenuta Salviano fall within the Orvieto Classico DOC; the "Salviano Orvieto Classico Superiore", for example, uses 60% grapes from native vines, located between 150 and 500 meters above sea level on a soil of limestone and sand, such as that of Trebbiano Toscano (called Procanico) at 30 %, Grechetto (for the remaining 30%), and a mix of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc for the remaining 40%. East. The red wine "Salviano Lago di Corbara Rosso DOC Turlò" is produced on the northern part of the lake, in the area of the Castello di Titignano with a position of the vines between 300 and 450 meters above sea level and an exposure facing south-east. The vines, which are all aged between 20 and 25 years, are Sangiovese for a good 50%, while the remaining part of the wine is made up of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes (for a percentage of 30%) and Merlot for the remaining 20%. Wines truly rich in character and absolutely typical, representative of a territory with a long wine history.
