The birth of The Vintage Malt Whiskey Company, also known today by the acronym VMWC, dates back to 1992. The objective that guided the founder, Brian Crook, immediately appears very clear: to facilitate as much as possible the selection and procurement phase of the best Scottish "single malts" for the final consumer who would otherwise be unlikely to have access to them. What Brian sensed ahead of his time was that it was necessary to create a network between the various producers, i.e. distilleries located at sometimes very large distances, establishing relationships of trust with them. Among the many companies that still boast an artisanal imprint today, the company selects and guarantees some real gems for its customers, with a timeless charm. The commercial strength of this company allows it to offer very high quality whiskey directly to retail, a result that would not be easily achievable by individual distilleries. In fact, if up until a century ago there were well over a hundred Scottish distilleries, today there are just under twenty who still produce whiskey independently. They are mainly characterized by family management, which, while maintaining a strong link with the artisanal dimension, risks not being able to achieve a sufficient distribution force, which proves capable of bringing this precious distillate to the many enthusiasts scattered around the world. . The rest of the distilleries present in Scotland are currently owned by the many luxury giants, rather than multinationals. Hence the choice of Vintage Malt Whiskey Company is to enhance local realities as much as possible, custodians of a unique tradition. At the moment, the Vintage Malt Whiskey Company manages to export over two hundred thousand bottles a year, to more than twenty countries: its role in the diffusion of the Scottish spirit is truly precious.
