The Laroche family has been producing wine for centuries. The passion for wine and the dedication to its production have been handed down from generation to generation since 1850, although there seem to have been ancestors who were winemakers as early as the end of the seventeenth century. From 1960 to today, the company has undergone dizzying growth, going from the original six hectares of extension, when the current owner, Michel Laroche, inherited them from his father, up to the current twenty-two. Domaine D'Henrie is located in Chablis, a municipality in Burgundy, dedicated to the production of the wine of the same name. The territory is calcareous-clayey on which small clods of grass are left to grow to absorb excess humidity; the climate, however, is continental, particularly harsh in winter, but hot and dry during summer. These morphological characteristics are crucial for the luxuriant growth of the 100% Chardonnay vines. The vineyards are cultivated with the utmost respect for their natural growth cycles: the Laroche family, in fact, limits its intervention on the vines and their natural rhythms to the bare minimum, excluding the necessary pruning and plowing of the soil. Thanks also to the collaboration with one of the most famous agronomists in France, Claude Bourguignon, the Laroche family is careful to adopt the most effective solutions to ensure that its vines release their full potential. No sugars or additives are added. Some of its most important productions are Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru Fourchaume and Chablis Premier Cru Fourchaume Héritage. Taken from vines of around eighty years of age, the wines of Domaine D'Henrie are produced only from the best bunches, harvested manually only at the peak of their maturation process, and then fermented in steel tanks and oak barrels. The chardonnays of Domaine D'Henrie are all long-lasting wines, which continue to mature and improve their taste even after fifteen or even twenty years after their bottling.
