Maison Henriot is a winery founded in 1808 by Nicolas Simon Henriot; it is located in the heart of the Champagne region of France, and precisely in the center of the village of Pierry. Henriot is a maison that can boast a vineyard area of approximately 26 hectares, almost all of which is included within plots classified as Grand Cru, the best available. This splendid winery presents a very rare characteristic in this region: it is in fact a totally independent family-run production company, which has been processing only its own grapes for over two hundred years. However, it is common practice for many Champagne producers to purchase at least part of the grapes from third parties. A maison therefore which, thanks to its autonomy, is able to make thoughtful choices, sometimes even bold and illuminated by a desire for experimentation, which however always lead to a range of refined and elegant Champagnes. The symbol of the property is represented by the splendid Les Aulnois residence, an elegantly styled structure in which wine and art blend into one.
The typical varieties of Champagne are grown between the rows, namely Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, with a predilection towards the latter. The terroir, with its particular conformation, contributes to giving very delicate and particular nuances to the Champagnes made. Since 2005, the Chef de cave has been Laurent Fresnet, a highly accomplished professional, who manages the vineyard and cellar on a daily basis with his team, to express the quintessence of the surrounding terroir in each label. Each variety of grape is in fact grown in the most suitable area, is vinified separately, to then give rise to extraordinary cuvées (blends). The truly great skill recognized at the Henriot maison is undoubtedly the art of creating cuvees that strongly identify the territory of origin, without neglecting elegance, finesse and complexity in each flute.
