Kettmeir

The South Tyrolean oenologist Giuseppe Kettmeir, an expert in viticulture and agricultural engineer, founded the winery that bears his name in 1919. Caldaro, immersed in the South Tyrolean vineyards, soon became the beating heart of its production of quality wines. In 1986 the winery became part of the Santa Margherita Gruppo Vinicolo, a collaboration that introduced a new and modern company philosophy, oriented towards technology and innovation. The lake and its microclimate, the soft and flat valley, the discreet protection of the hills, the soils of glacial origin which force the vines to push their roots deep. The Caldaro area is the ideal environment for red grape wines. While on the hill behind the winery, between 500 and 700 meters above sea level, the original limestone rock soil invites the cultivation of Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Moscato Rosa. And then, Pinot Bianco and Pinot Noir, the indispensable base for Kettmeir sparkling wines.
