Cantine Pellegrino 1880

Carlo Pellegrino & C. was founded way back in 1880, in Marsala, by the notary Paolo who, within a few years and with the help of his son Carlo, made it one of the most important wine industries in the whole of Sicily. In over 135 years of history and great successes, the company has reached an extension of 150 hectares of vineyards, 4 new estates and 3 production centres, namely the large and historic headquarters of Marsala, in the city centre; the Cardilla cellar, where the dry wines of the Sicilian tradition are bottled and the Pantelleria factory. The Pellegrino Cellars can be defined as the past, present and future of Sicilian wine: a large production reality from which 7 production lines are born. To understand the importance and dimensions of this historic Sicilian institution, just think that over 65% of the wine produced on the island of Pantelleria is signed by the Pellegrino family, today represented by the seventh generation of producers. Precise inputs are followed by the company, including the study of soils and microclimates, in order to identify the most suitable native varieties for each terroir and then the ambitious eco-sustainable project called Progetto Terra, which is applied to all the estates and includes : organic cultivation, energy saving technologies for lighting and logistics, renewable energy self-production systems, such as wells and photovoltaic systems, use of recyclable materials and efficient waste management. Quality, innovative foresight, connection with tradition and broad commercial vision are the basis of a modern production style and, at the same time, guardian of tradition. Alongside the historic line of Marsala and Moscato di Pantelleria, many labels are produced today: from native grape varieties, to organic ones, to whites and reds from the most important crus and the various estates scattered throughout the region.
