Fuligni

The Fuligni winery was founded in 1923, but its origins are much further back: they start from the end of the 1700s when Luigi Fuligni arrived in Tuscany as general of the Habsburg army, receiving large grants of land after taking on the commitment to reclaim the themselves. Thus was born the family's bond with the lands of Tuscany. Today the winery has around 10 hectares of vineyards, in the “ I Cottimelli ” area, around 400 meters above sea level. This area of Montalcino has soils rich in stone, mainly tuff and clay, and the vineyards boast excellent exposure to the South-East, with a perfect climate for the ripening of Sangiovese Grosso , the mother grape of Brunello . The protagonist of the rebirth of the winery is Roberto Fuligni , a very illustrious professor of law in Siena and undisputed talent of Ilcinese viticulture, a true vocation. Already with the first productions of Brunello in 1982 and 1983 the talent of the very young professor can be seen: refined, precise and demanding viticulture, combined with the masterful use of large barrels and barriques which have been noticeable for thirty years in every vintage of the great Tuscan wine of Fuligni. The estate is currently managed by Maria Flora Fuligni , who makes use of trained consultants in the vineyard and cellar
Fuligni, in addition to Brunello, produces the classic wines of the area: a Rosso di Montalcino DOC , the " Ginestreto ", which bears the name of the cru from which the grapes come, a Brunello di Montalcino DOCG , and in the best years the Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG. The range also includes a Toscana Rosso IGT, obtained from Sangiovese and Merlot, a classic "super Tuscan" of strength, structure and power. The bottles produced are approximately 50,000 bottles per year.
