The maison was founded in 1858, the year in which Madame Pommery became a widow and took over what, over time, would become one of the most important Champagne maisons in the world. She is an ambitious and highly innovative woman, which is why she overturns the rules of the time and bets everything on international markets to sell her champagne. He understood the potential of champagne as a luxury product and immediately aimed at the English market, obtaining great satisfaction, adopting a strategy aimed at enhancing its style and image. Intense revolutions that also affected champagne itself: Madame Pommery understood that the taste of the time was changing and that it was necessary to improve production techniques to improve the quality of the sparkling wine and progressively reduce its sweetness, which was a typical characteristic at the time . Thus was born in 1874 what is considered one of the first Brut Champagnes in history, i.e. with a low dosage of sugar. The glory of the Pommery brand continues to the present day and since 2002 the Pommery maison has entered the Vranken group with the desire to carry forward and further develop the avant-garde spirit always demonstrated, combined with the generosity, tenacity and passion that have made it of Pommery products a point of reference for the entire world of Champagne. Today this Reims maison can boast over 250 hectares of owned vineyards (in addition to the vignerons who supply them) where the work between the rows - in which mainly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are grown - is carried out following eco-sustainable working practices. Today, there are many labels in the Pommery universe, some of a classically traditional nature, such as the Brut “Royal” or the “Apanage”, others the result of experimentation and innovation, such as the “Pop Earth”, 100% natural Champagne hundred.
