Although the history of the winery is linked to Daniele's grandparents who in the 1930s produced grapes, but also wheat and animal breeding, the winery as we know it today has been around for about 15 years, since Daniele chose to abandon a sad job as a toll collector along the Milan-Serravalle and collect the legacy of a certain Walter Massa who about 20 years ago proposed to the world an unknown wine, Timorasso, with incredible potential, which became a reality with Massa. We are in Costa Vescovado, in the Tortonesi Hills, a wine-growing area with a long tradition, but always in the shadow of the Langhe and the Asti area. Today, 15 years later, more and more wine enthusiasts, young and veterans, conservatives and wine-naturalists, travel that highway to visit that winemaker who reinterpreted Timorasso in a truly imaginative and eclectic way: there was need someone capable of giving a new follow-up to this splendid wine, effectively inaugurating the universe of Timorasso 2.0. There's no need to beat around the bush: Daniele Ricci is the most anarchic, revolutionary and unconventional winemaker in the Colli Tortonesi area. The one that plays with long macerations on the skins, which refines in underground amphorae, which eliminates the use of selected yeasts and which does not clarify. His artisanal agricultural project is based on principles of respect for the vine and for life; embraces the dictates of organic farming in the 10 hectares of vineyard and works in the cellar with a view to "non-interventionism", letting spontaneous nature take its course. However, Daniele Ricci also managed to transfer his courage mixed with knowledge into the production of red wines, from local vines such as Barbera and Croatina, exploiting the Tortonian marl, of which the soils in Costa Vescovado are rich, as a natural source of finesse and evolution that is transferred to wine. Waiting is one of the prevalent peculiarities in Daniele's work, the patience of waiting even years before putting his labels on the market, in order to give end consumers unforgettable glasses.
