In 1999 the Sassetti family purchased La Querciolina, an agricultural company in the heart of the Maremma, and precisely within the Montecucco DOC. The family has been producing Brunello di Montalcino of the highest level (and highly awarded) for over three generations and thanks to great passion and experience, Livio Sassetti has diversified his production by investing in abandoned Maremma vineyards which have then been transformed into vineyards capable of produce Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo of the highest quality. Faithful to the teachings of his family, Livio has over time renovated and expanded these vineyards, conserving the genetic heritage of the old existing vines and preserving their original characteristics. Deep wines are born, reflecting the true nature of the Maremma territory: Montecucco Rosso, for example, is a pure Sangiovese, and is its practical representation: robust, tannic, but at the same time elegant and equipped with a good dose of drinkability .
