Chiara Boschis - E. Pira & Figli

Gigi Pira was a legendary exponent of the old school of Barolo production; he was, among other things, the last remaining winemaker to carry out the pressing by foot and the production without the support of any technical means. Since 1980, continuity has been guaranteed by Chiara Boschis and her parents Franco and Ida, already linked to the Piras by deep friendship and mutual respect. Chiara thus became one of the first female producers of Barolo. Since 2010, Chiara has been joined in the ownership of the company by her brother Giorgio who shares with her the great passion for working in the vineyard and in the cellar, also with thirty years of experience. Today its vineyards are divided between prestigious and historic crus of the Barolo municipalities: Serralunga and Monforte, including Gabutti, Baudana, Mosconi, Paiagallo, Terlo and, above all, Cannubi. Environmental sustainability is one of the strong points of this historic reality: in addition to having obtained organic certification in all the vineyards, the Boschis family has taken steps to plant over 300 birds' nests among the rows. The link with tradition is evident in the spontaneous fermentations, without the addition of yeasts, and in the choice not to filter or clarify the wines produced. The Chiara Boschis wines are true expressions of the Langa territory, capable of combining attachment to history and tradition with extraordinary elegance and surprising drinkability, combining the indissoluble balance between structure and refinement, power and elegance. Among its most famous labels are Barolo Cannubi and Via Nuova, created from the grapes of different crus.
