The Fattoria di Petrognano, owned by the Pellegrini family since 1963, is located 2 km from the town of Montelupo Fiorentino, a municipality internationally known for the production of ceramics. The mansion, composed of a single body, is located on a characteristic Tuscan ups and downs overlooking the Arno valley, along a road that connects Montelupo Fiorentino to Montespertoli. The Pellegrini family's connection with the world of wine dates back to the end of the nineteenth century, first with the opening of a tavern and then with the beginning of the wholesale wine and must trade in the Bergamo province . Today Pellegrini is one of the most important wine distributors in Italy. Emanuele Pellegrini, today at the helm of the winery , supported by his wife Monica, an oenologist, he represents the fourth generation and is the founder's grandson . Through this union, the history of the Pellegrini family opens up to an international and innovative horizon. The company has always made wine and bottles only the grapes from its own vineyards and this characteristic, combined with respect for the strong identity elements of the territory, guarantees and strengthens the value of Fattoria di Petrognano wines. The company is immersed in an oasis of peace and serenity: its vineyards extend around the main body of the property and the agritourism complex and organic management, respectful of the environment, is implemented in all the plots. The average age of the plants is around 35 years, but a part of these (new) have not yet entered into production and will give future and continuity to the quality of the grapes produced; the vineyards are located at an altitude of 250/300 meters above sea level, the exposure is always hilly, south-west. The cellar is built using the most modern technologies, but without forgetting tradition , with temperature-controlled stainless steel containers for fermentation and subsequent storage, with small French oak barrels and some medium-sized barrels for aging. The aim of the family, and of all the collaborators, is to obtain the best possible quality, respecting the land and the territory with such a strong wine vocation . The most produced wine of the Fattoria di Petrognano is Chianti in the "young" type and represents 70% of the total production. But we also remember the Meme, Chianti Superiore docg, dedicated to our grandfather Emanuele, the Orci line, two wines aged in amphora and the Valente, a Super Tuscan of rare breadth and elegance.
