At the end of the 1960s, the lands of Tenuta Val di Suga, then intended for the production of fodder, were progressively converted into vineyards, through various changes of ownership, until in 1982 Tenuta Val di Suga began producing wine, equipping itself of its own winemaking cellar. The first vintage to enter the market is the “Val di Suga Brunello Riserva 1977”. Rapid viticultural and oenological growth began immediately. This coincides with the parallel development of the Brunello di Montalcino denomination, a factual element that helps Val di Suga to emerge and stand out in the Ilcinese wine scene. In 1994, the estate was purchased by the Angelini Group (Bertani Domains): this element would give a new impetus to the winery, already awarded and recognized internationally for the high quality of its wines. It must be said that the uniqueness of the winery will be determined, over the years, by the putting into production of three vineyards, located on the three slopes of the Montalcino hill, in the areas most suited to the production of Brunello di Montalcino; a rare case in the panorama of Brunello production; it is in fact one of the few estates to have vineyards in different points of the hill and the only one to have them on the three most suitable slopes for the production of the best Brunello. This allows us to develop and highlight the diversity of the 3 Crus created and proposed, placing maximum attention on the wines and their indissoluble bond with the vineyards of origin. A good part of the cellar structure is part of the ancient original complex, all recovered and organized to best accommodate the wines during their refinement. An imposing underground barrel cellar was built between 2000 and 2001 and winds along a path made up of adjacent rooms, but separated by sectors. Here there are different woods that have been identified to enhance the different characteristics of the 3 crus during their refinement. A range of high-end labels, those of Val di Suga, with different stylistic features, but always deeply linked to the Ilcinese territory.
