Mosnel

The Barboglio family settled in 1836 in Camignone, in the heart of Franciacorta, inheriting a centuries-old residence with splendid sixteenth-century cellars. Since 1976 the name "Azienda Agricola Barzanò Barboglio" has been abandoned for the current "Il Mosnel", a dialectal toponym of Celtic origin which means stony ground, pile of stones, from the characteristics of the land on which the company stands. Since then it has changed of wine in the barrels... and today the winery certainly represents one of the most important realities of Franciacorta. The winery, run with competence and passion by Lucia and Giulio Barzanò, is spread over almost entirely marly soils, which is not common in Franciacorta, in capable of giving the wines great elegance, balance and immediate pleasantness, as well as splendid qualities of longevity. All the vineyards underwent replanting in the nineties. All the plots owned by the winery are managed organically. The 8 different vines grown in the 15 plots surrounding the core of the cellar require specific care throughout the year and wise promptness at the time of harvest. For the rest, the practices adopted in the cellar are few and simple, but essential to produce wines that release personality and aromas: barriques used for the fermentation and maturation of at least 10% of each wine; use of Pinot Bianco and Nero on all non-vintage sparkling wines and low sugar dosage. It is only in this way that some of the most representative sparkling wines of the Franciacorta area can be created, from Brut to Pas Dosé, from Extra Brut Millesimato "EBB" to Pas Dosé Riserva "QdE", top of the range.
