Roberto Cipresso

Among the most famous winemakers in the international field, Cipresso is originally from Bassano del Grappa, but began his career as a winemaker in 1987 when he decided to move to Montalcino. In this place rich in wine history, he began to collaborate with the most famous local producers such as Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona or Poggio Antico and, in 1998, "Poggio al Sole" was born, a small farmhouse in the nature of Montalcino which also includes a " Cru” of Brunello. “Winemaking” was born in 1999, the first ambitious and large project: an oenological and agronomic consultancy group. Over the years, “Winemaking” grows and finds its natural evolution in 2001 with the foundation of “Winecircus”, a cellar-laboratory dedicated to development and research thanks to collaborations with the most important universities. In 2004, Cipresso founded, together with Santiago Achaval “Matervini”, an Argentine wine production company dedicated to the discovery of new territories and new wines to produce in South America and which within a few years would receive numerous awards and recognitions. Over the following years, Roberto will be awarded several times: in 2006 he was elected best Italian winemaker, "Men's Health" named him "man of the year" in the "food" category and "Wine&Spirits" awarded his " Achaval Ferrer Finca" in 2013 Altamira 2010” as the best Malbec in the world. Also in 2013, the first harvest of Brunello di Montalcino with the sole signature "Roberto Cipresso" took place, deriving from that "Cru" present at "Poggio del Sole". The first two vintages produced are 2013 for the Brunello and 2016 for the Rosso. Each Cipresso winemaking operation harmoniously combines the latest technologies with the preservation of the details of artisanal work to create wines that can best reflect the terroir of origin and the personality of their producer.
