Located in historic Todi, the Peppucci winery is located on the top of a splendid hill, approximately 450 meters above sea level, along the road that leads from the village to Montefalco and Spoleto. At the center of the company stands one of the most interesting medieval monuments in Umbria, a former Benedictine monastery dedicated to Sant'Antimo, dating back to the early 1200s. Legend has it that the monks present in previous centuries already practiced viticulture and were used to guard their wines very jealously inside the crypt; inspired by this story, the Peppucci family decided in 2000 to continue the local tradition by planting numerous vineyards in the surrounding areas. Nature proved to be "favorable" to the idea, giving them particularly suitable land for exposure and composition, which were therefore cultivated mainly with native grapes such as Sangiovese, Colorino, Grechetto di Todi and Sagrantino, but also with international vines such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The vineyards are characterized by a high density of rows, in order to push the plants to produce little, but of great quality, and the subsequent processing phases such as harvesting and selection are rigorously carried out by hand, to always obtain only an excellent quality raw material. The company's philosophy aims for the top, respecting those ancient traditions, nature and its ecosystems, but with an eye always focused on research and innovation.
