Giovanni Corino

The Corino Giovanni company is located in the heart of the Langhe, in the province of Cuneo, and precisely in La Morra; the Corino family arrived in this splendid place, now home to the current winery, way back in 1952, after a lot of wandering as sharecroppers in the area's farms. Prior to their arrival, the land was owned by the Parish Benefit and was mainly cultivated with arable land and fruit trees, with little presence of vineyards. In the early sixties, following the birth of two children, the company began its expansion, bringing the rows of vines to occupy fifteen hectares of land; most of them were planted with Nebbiolo, but the grapes, at the time, often had to be sold to traders rather than harvested and vinified independently. In the mid-eighties, however, the turning point came, the first bottles of Barolo were bottled and the two sons, now adults, decided to apply selection and quality criteria to produce better wines, starting to thin out the vineyard to obtain a smaller quantity of grapes, but of higher quality, thus obtaining structure and complexity. Thus we began to seriously vinify both Barolo and Dolcetto, while maintaining a portion of grapes for sale, in order to improve the overall proceeds of the cellar and technologically progress in the structures dedicated to wine. Thanks to these improvements, the first satisfactions are also starting to arrive, the first awards in competitions which give the awareness of having taken the right path. In 2005 a further historical turning point arrived, the two brothers decided to separate and pursue different and personal paths and productions, while Giuliano, together with his wife Stefania, maintained ownership of the headquarters and the historic brand and with it also the custody of the traditions family members continuing to produce excellent wines.
