Anselmi

The Anselmi winery began its activity at the beginning of the century with Roberto's grandfather, the current owner. Unfortunately, the economic crisis linked to the world war forced him to sell all the vineyards and his son, who in the meantime had built a large cellar for bottling and selling wines, continued the business without land or vineyards.
Roberto then takes over his father's business, but with the dream of buying back his grandfather's vineyards and within a few years he manages to realize the business, renting and purchasing land in the surrounding areas.
Roberto has a further objective: to create high quality wines by revaluing the local wine, namely Soave which certainly did not enjoy at the time, in the 70s and 80s, the reputation as a quality wine that it can boast today. Anselmi then began to apply severe work strategies in the vineyard, and then in the cellar; creates high density vineyards per hectare, carries out the selection of less productive and more aromatic Garganega clones (the grape used to produce Soave), the reduction of the number of bunches per plant, winemaking with attention to detail and other elements, unusual for its area, but which aim to produce great wines. Unfortunately his concept clashes with that of the Soave Doc Consortium, so Roberto renounces the denomination and gives his wines the name of the vineyards, downgrading the denomination from DOC to IGT. After the first periods of understandable difficulty, the market proves him right: his wines are appreciated in Italy and around the world, with 70% of the production gradually being sold in 25 different countries. There are only 5 labels created today: 3 types of Soave, a fantastic passito wine and a very elegant and intriguing red. Wines truly worth trying!
