Barone di Valforte

The Feudo di Valforte has been owned by the noble Sorricchio family since 1300. The name certainly evokes a peasant origin, in fact this term refers to the scythe used to cut hay. A very well-known and influential family in Abruzzo and this is demonstrated by the fact that many streets and squares in the family's places of origin have the name Sorricchio. The tradition and passion for these lands has been handed down in the family, unchanged over the centuries, generation after generation and the results are clearly evident. The vineyards of Tenute Barone di Valforte extend for 52 hectares in the heart of Abruzzo, in an area with an extraordinary landscape, between the sea and the mountains of Gran Sasso and Maiella . The Sorricchio family has always highlighted the conservation and, above all, the valorization of the territory as one of the priority objectives; therefore great efforts are made to produce excellent wines from typical and native quality grapes, obtaining wines of great refinement and elegance such as Montepulciano d'Abruzzo , Trebbiano , Pecorino and Passerina , with particular attention to sustainable agriculture and respect for nature and the environment. Today, the brothers Guido and Francesco Sorricchio carry on the family tradition, respecting the centuries-old tradition, developing a cutting-edge cultivation and winemaking model. Environmental protection and low environmental impact production are among the winery's priorities: for example, a latest generation photovoltaic system and the availability of very modern machinery for vineyard management allow a notable reduction in the use of high-quality chemical products. synthesis; all this is compatible with an integrated organic farming system. The result is given by wines which, despite their technological excellence, speak of their territory, their history, the love, passion and competence with which they are produced.
