A wonderful Tuscan estate of 700 hectares in total, where time seems to have stood still: this is Il Borro, an oasis dedicated to high-end hospitality which includes a medieval village, a splendid nineteenth-century villa and an ancient wine cellar. A recovery project strongly supported by the Ferragamo family who, with passion, brought this magnificent corner of Tuscany back to life. It all began in 1985, during a hunting trip, when Ferruccio Ferragamo, a well-known textile entrepreneur, discovered this reserve. Almost ten years later, seduced by its beauty, he decided to purchase the entire property, then belonging to Duke Amedeo D'Aosta. Today, thanks to the care, taste and long restoration work by Salvatore Ferragamo, the estate has returned to relive a new splendor, bringing back the ancient traditions of these magical places. The project envisages, from the beginning, two creations: a splendid "luxury farmhouse", for a total of 28 accommodations including apartments, villas and farmhouses, in full respect of the typical materials and their history, splendidly furnished with furniture and objects of local craftsmanship, and of course the cellar, which however also includes an artistic project with spaces used for exhibitions and collections of works of art. Among them stand out creations by Dürer, Rembrandt, Mantegna, Piranesi, Manet, Picasso and Andy Warhol. 1993 is the date that marks the beginning of the winery's activity, with the help of the oenologist Nicolò D'Afflitto who, after careful analysis of the land, plants and cultivates the varieties that best adapt to the characteristics of the place, i.e. international vines such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot and, of course, the native Sangiovese. From the 45 hectares of vineyards, cultivated with strictly organic farming, excellent wines are born, which over the years have received great commercial and critical feedback from professionals and the public from all over the world.
