Camigliano: what is now a hamlet of Montalcino has always been a fortified nucleus, inhabited since the time of the Etruscans. Through the centuries, denominations, etc. the local community will never completely disappear from the populous Castello di Camigliano , where the rural and agricultural component has always prevailed. And we arrive at 1957, where a far-sighted Milanese entrepreneur, Walter Ghezzi , purchased the estate and began producing wine. Over the years, passion and tenacity have rewarded Ghezzi's work, obtaining truly important commercial results. Today the family business is managed by his son Gualtiero who has expanded the estate, bringing it to 530 hectares, of which 93 are under vineyards. Gualtiero, assisted by his wife Laura and daughters Silvia and Isabella, produces around 330,000 bottles of Brunello di Montalcino , Rosso di Montalcino , Poderuccio igt , Vermentino Gamal igt every year. The production is completed by Grappa and organic DOP extra virgin olive oil. The unconditional love for this territory and the profound desire to preserve and enhance it together led to the Organic Certification and subsequently to the Biodynamic Certification. Gualtiero dedicates all his attention to the care of the vineyards, which are scrupulously followed through continuous soil analysis and pruning management, precisely to enhance and transmit to the wine all the terroir with which even the air is impregnated. The village has been profoundly restored and renovated, transforming it into a modernly equipped cellar to create truly excellent, exciting labels, which truly reflect the place in which they are produced. The ancient cellar, under the walls of the village, with ancient exposed beams and stone walls, offers ample space for tasting wines, and also, if desired, it can be a place to linger and taste the different vintages of Brunello and understand its evolution over the years, in an alternative way, to come into direct contact with the spirit that animates these lands and these people.
