When we talk about Argiano , we talk about the history of Brunello di Montalcino . Together with Biondi Santi and a few other companies, this winery has traced the path on which the Montalcino "locomotive" still moves today. It has an ancient history, the splendid manor house (still the prestigious headquarters of the company today) was built around 1580. A company considered a precious ambassador in the world not only of its wines, but of Ilcinese pride , aware of having contributed also at the birth of the Brunello Consortium . The most recent history of Argiano passes through the ownership of the noble Sienese Pecci family, who built the cellar, from which the vocation as a winery was also born. Over the centuries, the estate passed through various ownerships between various noble families, until reaching the enlightened management of Donna Ersilia Caetani Lovatelli in the 19th century, who managed to promote Brunello in the best "salons" of the time together with the wine products of Argiano . In the 80s and 90s, Countess Noemi Marone Cinzano managed and promoted the business: she also deserves the credit of having started the collaboration with the world-famous winemaker Giacomo Tachis (formerly Antinori and then Tenuta San Guido with the Sassicaia). In 2013, the estate changed hands again and became the property of a group of Brazilian entrepreneurs. The management of the vineyards has always remained based on respect for the environment, respecting the tradition of five centuries of history that has made Argiano great. Even today the objective is to enhance the excellence of a terroir famous throughout the world, producing wines of excellent quality. As you can imagine, most of the vineyards are cultivated with Sangiovese Grosso , the historic vine of the area, with which Rosso di Montalcino DOC and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG are produced, the latter being the jewel in the winery's crown. There are some small plots reserved for international grape varieties, such as cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot and syrah intended for the production of Supertuscan style wines.
