The company is one of the historic ones, even if its commercial history is more recent. In 1943 the Pieri family purchased the Piancornello farm. At the end of the 1980s, the Corte dei Venti company was born which, with the death of the maternal grandfather, was divided among the grandchildren. We are in one of the areas of Montalcino most suited to viticulture, with excellent exposures, particularly sunny and with red soil, in the hinterland between Sant'Angelo and Castelnuovo dell'Abate. It is significant to remember that the name "Corte dei Venti" derives from the particular influence that these winds have on the production of high quality grapes and which constantly blow in this area. Their presence allows a Mediterranean climate free of fog, and therefore humidity, which favors the health of both the vines during the vegetative phase and the grapes during the harvest. The grapes are so ripe and perfect also thanks to the wind. The estate is small, it has around 5 hectares of vineyard land , the vineyards are characterized by hilly terrain with more or less steep slopes, rich in clay and mineral substances and are also influenced by the winds coming from the sea which guarantee prolonged and optimal maturation of the grapes. The cultivation is organic, not yet certified . If one of the family's objectives is to maintain the winemaking traditions of the area, the cellar has been equipped with cutting-edge machinery; it is entirely "conditioned" with controlled temperature and humidification and is divided into 2 distinct areas: one for winemaking with steel tanks and the other for aging, with tonneaux , barriques and 25 hl wooden barrels which are used for refine the excellent Brunello di Montalcino . It should also be noted that the farm also has 3 hectares of centuries-old olive trees with very interesting monocultivars, from Olivastra to Correggiolo to Moraiolo. Here too, an extremely qualitative extra virgin olive oil is produced, handcrafted, with great passion and dedication.
